 Oops...I forgot...

Published 6/27/2006 1:33:35 PM - General

I got to the last day of the seminar and then I forgot to add anymore!  To give me credit, I did leave directly from the seminar and didn't get home until fairly late.  It is a 3 hour drive or so from Tahlequah to Norman.  You will be glad to know that I only got lost once.  And then I wasn't really lost.  I was following very vague directions and had to stop to make sure I wasn't getting lost.    Anyway, from there it was a fairly busy weekend.  I spent most of Saturday trying to get caught up on housework, errands, etc.  Then on Saturday night I went to a game night at a friend's sister's house.  We played Mafia (ahhhh...murder and mayhem...what fun!) and Mexican Train Dominoes, which is pretty cool.  A bit of strategy involved, but not a heavy thinking game, so you can concentrate on the conversation.  Sunday I went to Edmond to visit everyone.  Michelle and the boys came in on Saturday night (they were supposed to spend the night at my house and surprise Mom and Dad on Sunday, but given that I had my dates confused and thought she wasn't coming until next week, I was not at home so she had to go right on to Edmond) Whew!  How's that for a run-on sentence!  Anyway, I went up after church and spent the afternoon wandering around Edmond with Mom, Michelle and the boys.  Got a haircut, got some new clothes, played with the firemen at Michaels for a while.  Well, Tony and Leo did anyway.    All in all, a fun weekend.  Went back to work at the law office yesterday.  No rest for the wicked.  But I did get to have dinner with Brett & Missy last night.  Hadn't seen them in a couple of weeks, so I was glad to get to do that.  Tonight it's dinner at Ted's with Michelle and a bunch of my friends.  I'm looking forward to that.  But for now, I guess it's back to the salt mines!

Only one more day to go...

Published 6/22/2006 5:38:30 PM - General

Tomorrow is the last day of my last seminar for the summer.  Then it is working at the office for me for a bit, a week of vacation and then amazingly enough, school starts again!  Where has the time gone?!  Let's see...any wonderful, exciting news from today's work?  Ummmm....we did the chicken dance.  We threw balls at each other.  We played Mrs. Mumbles.  (Don't you all wish your seminars worked like this!)  The other day we got to flip a shower curtain over while everyone was standing on it....and we could only use our feet...and we couldn't step off the curtain.  It was very interesting.  Oh...we did play a cool game with cups, rubber bands and string as well.  Mom, that may be another one we'll have to do on the 4th of July.  Okay...I need to get going.  The battery is running low and I can't plug it in right now because there is much thunder and lightening!

 Day two complete...

Published 6/21/2006 6:59:05 PM - General

No Cha Cha Slide today.    Mom, I will do   my best to have the music on camping weekend.  I think I can download it to the internet.  The kids will love it!  One  of my instructors works at a school where the principal will periodically call everyone out into the hallways and play the music over the intercom so the entire elementary school is doing it all at once out in the hallways!  I think that would be cool!  Even though we didn't do the cha cha today, it was pretty interested.  We were talking about right brain/left brain kind of stuff and the multiple intellegences.  I bet you didn't know there are eight of them.  So we took a test to see what we were.  Normally people are primarily one of them with secondary intelligences making up part of your personality.  I think I've figured out my problem.  Five of them are my primary personality.  They were all equal.  The other three were minor things.  Now, let's see if this surprises anyone...it didn't me!  I am NOT mathmatical/logical (I fit a few of the logic, but that's all I pick up there), visual/spacial (not learning styles...how do you see distances, directions, etc.) or naturist.  To me this was a pretty big "duh!".  I am equally verbal/linguistic, bodily/kinesthetic, musical/rythmic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal.  So, basically, I talk and write a lot, like to learn by doing/moving, can learn anything using music and I am most happy by  myself and with other people.  I really don't think you are supposed to be equally both of those last ones!  Now, here is the true question.  Am I the way I am because I was born that way, or because I was raised to try everything/do everything and never told that I had to do things one way or another?  I'm kind of curious...anyone else done this kind of inventory?  How did you turn out?

 Day one complete...

Published 6/20/2006 10:11:15 PM - General

I finished my first day of my GE seminar.  So far my head has not exploded from overload of information, but I am a bit concerned.  After the last two weeks, and now this one, it is touch and go!  The manual I got for this seminar has over 300 pages of information!!  It's actually been very interesting because a lot of the stuff we are learning about is stuff I wanted to do anyway and didn't know how.  Especially some of the things I was wanting to encorporate from Toastmasters.  It's kind of funny that those things are exactly what I was wanting to get to.  I am under instructions to bring Freddie to class with me tomorrow, so I have a feeling I will be explaining much about Gilbert and friends.  That ought to be interesting...I always get such varied reactions.  Anyway, it is time for me to get some sleep so I can be up bright and early tomorrow for day 2.  Today I got to do the ChaCha Slide...I wonder what tomorrow will bring!

 I'm making an effort here...

Published 6/19/2006 1:25:01 PM - General

Trying to get my (almost) daily entry done.  I should have posted this weekend, but I slept most of it away!  I slept through my alarm on Saturday and didn't wake up until 3:00 in the afternoon!!  Clearly I needed the sleep, but it put me way off schedule for everything else.  I'm at work now (at the law office) for today, but I leave this evening for a 4 day seminar on class management in Tahlequah.  I'm looking forward to it, but at the same time, I'm also looking forward to being done with seminars for the summer.  I don't have that much summer left, and I have a lot to get done before school starts.  Hopefully I'll be able to post from the seminar location, but it may be another few days before I post again.  I'll probably head strait from the seminar to Jazz in June on Friday night....yeah!  I love this time of year.  There is so much going on.  I missed Riverfest this weekend, did anyone else get to go?

Wow! It's been over a year since I was on this part...

Published 6/16/2006 11:27:20 PM - General

I will work on updating this at least every week or so.  For now I'm just sitting here relaxing after a looooonnnnngggg couple of weeks.  I just finished my Synergizing Math Scientifically seminar, which was 2 weeks of lots and lots and lots and lots of information on science and math.  We worked many, many hours and did bunches of activities, but it was really a great seminar.  To give you some idea of how much work we put in, I earned 4 hours of college credit for this seminar...which means we put an entire 4 hour semester course into two weeks...and covered math (for grades 3 through 8), earth science, life science and physical science (all also grades 3 through 8).  We finished up today and I spent the evening at the Jazz Lab in Edmond listening to a really cool band play.  I have the weekend free and then next week I'm off to Tahlequah for another seminar.  This one on classroom management.  That's about it for now.  I'll try and get more posted soon.

 Bored, very bored...

Published 5/4/2005 3:25:00 PM - General

I'm sitting at work being....as you probably guessed....very very bored! So I thought I'd write here. Of course, there isn't much to say that I haven't already. You already know about my belt test this weekend. And that I got to see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Saturday and discover the meaning of life, the universe and everything (the answer is 42, just in case you are wondering). And you know about the Renaissance Faire...so, let's see. What else? Oh...yeah, May Fair. I went to the May Fair in Norman on Friday night. It was a little cold, but pretty neat none-the-less. We stayed a couple of hours and watched some of the kids dance and looked at all of the booths. The poor kids were freezing in their little tights and leotards. I felt so sorry for them! And dancing on a cement floor even. Yikes! But they had some really cool artwork, etc. Including a great exhibit of work done by a bunch of the elementary school kids around Norman. Some of those kids have more talent at age 4 than I will ever have! Well, I guess that's it. Nothing else exciting going on here. (thus the very very bored comments)

 Ah ha!

Published 4/29/2005 2:48:00 PM - General

I found the link! You know, I am really bad at updating this darned thing as it is...but the searching for the missing link could be a problem. ;) Thanks to Jchon for both putting it there and for pointing out where it is. :) Anyway, lots going on in my life just lately and I just haven't gotten over here to update the journal page. Although, most of it is on the family blog, so I don't feel so bad. The last couple of months have just been really fun! I've gotten to go down and visit Jchon and Dawn in Texas (where I got to see the bluebonnets, the Fort Worth Arts Festival and the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens), I've gotten to got to the Oklahoma City Arts Festival (spent two whole days there!), I got to go see Vince Gill and Toby Keith (along with a bunch of other stars and non-stars) at the Memorial Concert, saw Manhatten Transfer with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic (wonderful, wonderful, wonderful evening!) and just plain had fun with friends! We had a great dinner the other night with about 10 of my friends there, much laughter involved (and very little of it directed at me. :) ) Oh! And how could I have forgotten getting my teaching certificate!!! I'm a little confused as to why they think I can teach middle school science and math, but hey! Who cares! I have the elementary part that goes with it, along with middle school social studies and english. Both of which I can handle. Now it just comes down to finding a job. Hate that part. :( That's all I can think of at the moment, but I have lots coming up, so I'll try and post more. For one thing, I am going to May Fair this evening, I test for my blue belt (half way to my black belt) tomorrow, and I'm going to go to the Renaissance Faire in Muskogee on Sunday. Trying to fit a trip to Bricktown in there to see Hitchhiker's Guide, but I'm not sure that will work. And that's just this weekend! I have two weddings coming up (one requiring a trip to San Antonio) and a vacation to Washington State over Memorial Day and the week after (a free trip at that!). I think I might have run out of things to do at that point, but it's all good. I'm sure I'll find something to do! For one thing, Jazz in June will be coming up. So...at any rate, that seems to be all for now.

 Again too long....

Published 2/6/2005 10:43:00 PM - General

I've been caught by the journal police again, so let's see what I can add to this. I was out of tae kwon do for a couple of months during the holidays, so no new belts yet. I'm working on my next one (blue) now though. And trying to figure out how, yet again, I have managed to fill up my schedule until I am doing something just about every day. I think it is a housework avoidance technique! Right now I am waiting for Monica to come pick Brianna up. She spent the weekend with me. Poor kid, she's about had it for the evening! She's been running around my church all day long! A couple of friends and I hosted a church wide SuperBowl party and potluck dinner. First year we've done anything like this, but it went great! I was so pleased. Kind of worried for a while that no one would show up, but we ended up having just over 100 people there. I think I saw one play of the game, but...that's okay. I got to play Red Rover, Red Rover. :) Brianna was a terrific help setting up, cutting up confetti for us and helping set up the tables and chairs. And during the game she got to play with all the other kids her age that were there, so she had fun too. Anyway, that's about it for now. All the rest of my life is set out in the family blog! I'll work on updating this more often though.
