I do not say a proverb is amiss when aptly and reasonably applied, but to be forever discharging them, right or wrong, hit or
miss, renders conversation insipid and vulgar.

That is an American Idol clip...why are you looking up American Idol clips?? Hmmm...
Christie, did I tell you Happy Birthday yet? I don't think I have here. I don't know how to do the fancy pictures, so all you will get from me is a plain old HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love you so very much and am very proud of you! Even if you did mess up my birthday dinner that Saturday night in 1973....

I Need HALP . . . .

While I was helping mom clean out the kiln room, (Well, in all honesty she was doing all the work.) I found an old watercolor that was painted specifically for me.
The interior decorator who did the design for the model home I built in Pueblo West, Colorado, circa 1970's knew an artist by the name of David Corty. ( A photo album exists that shows, among other things, John peering through an 'old' style optic level)
David is now world renowned for his watercolor landscapes, many of which sell for 5 figure numbers. David and I met to see if he would care to hang any of his work in the new decorator home. (His work was just gaining attention at that time.)
As we talked about the house in general and my likes and dislikes in particular, I must have mentioned my love for the Iris blossom.
Just before opening the house for showing, David came bearing a gift. It was nicely wrapped and I thought it would be one of his landscapes, something that anyone would love to adorn their walls with.
NOT SO!!!! To my surprise, I unwrapped a lovely, brown tone Corty watercolor. NOT the landscape I expected but a lovely Iris blossom. To the best of my knowledge, it is the ONLY piece he has ever done other than a landscape.
My interest in David it to see if he is still painting, he appears to be, and if there are any examples of his past and current work.
I have no intention of parting with it, however, for insurance purposes, we do need to know if it has any significant value. That, we will handle when we can afford it. (It also has to be removed from its existing, matted frame due to hungry mice/squirrels, whatever, re-matted [hmmm, a word?] and a frame picked out. Fortunately no damage to the watercolor itself.)
I have done searches that got a little data, but not the kind of information that shows his current and past history. There is a lot of writing and information about a David Corti, not an artist, but only one article I could find on David Corty, which is how his name is spelled. I checked the watercolor to make certain. The small bit of information I did find does refer to his work as almost if not totally landscapes.
HALP????? You computer geeks and researchers, let's fill in the blanks. Please . . .

And for pete's sake, I was only off by one year. And now you will have all the kids confussed since I don't turn 60 until the next Presidential election! You however, will be 64, one year away for full social security! Jiminy...60 years old at the next Presidential election....and one of my former co-workers just turned 70....
I just sat down to take a breather (and get a snack). Pulled some orders and started emptying the pouring room of molds. As soon as Dad gets down with computer stuff, we'll head back out and keep on track to get that room cleaned up.
