Quote of the Day
I do not say a proverb is amiss when aptly and reasonably applied, but to be forever discharging them, right or wrong, hit or
miss, renders conversation insipid and vulgar.

Setting The Record Straight!!
| Sunday, August 30, 2009 | Okay, I will admit that since mom has actually entered the "computer age", and now understands how to use some of the overwhelming number of attributes of computer programs (I would be astonished if I use or understand 10% or less of what my programs can do.) especially her calendars, she has been able to remember things she might otherwise forget. (I am going to start my calendar so I can understand it and have it set-up for 2010.)
That being said, although mom remembers with fairly consistent accuracy the kids birthdays, get to what year any were born and she has to start counting backward. (She remembers the ages strangely enough, just not the years.) I, on the other hand, remember each and every year of the kids.
As for the grandkids, thank you Jchon for your blog calendar, I need a lot of help there. This old dog ain't learned to remember all of those.
I hope each and everyone of you, kids and grandkids alike, live the full life mom and I have enjoyed for just over 39 years now. (We met on August 27, 1970 in the Kappa Sigma fraternity house. To have married on the same date, five years later was not planned, it just happened.) Doing "things" together is very difficult, and we both understand that. However, take whatever moments you can rob from your everyday life and do something new and exciting. It can be a dinner at a new restaurant or a cruise (our favorite, although finances have not permitted us to further that part of our life since 2002), but DO SOMETHING!!
My father said for as long as I can remember that he was saving his money so he could enjoy the world when he retired. He died less than 6 months after retirement, never having doing even one of his "bucket" dreams. Don't let it happen to any of you. | | | Posted by: Still A Loving Husband And Father at 12:05:39 PM |

Can It Possibly Be 40 Years?? Really??
| Saturday, August 29, 2009 | It is all over the news, TV, radio, etc., this month is the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock gathering. Having been there with several of my friends, it was an experience never to be forgotten.
We got there late, (Good thing because they were still requiring tickets up until about 4 hours before we got there, that is when the fences started going down.) and left early, but have never seen anything like it before or since.
Crowd count varies between 350,000 and 500,000 totally whacked out people. The second day was really the most fun. Talk about rain, there wasn't a visible spot that didn't have an inch or two of mud to "walk" on, slide is more accurate after the rains came and went.
Jim, first best man, was smart enough to bring a cooler of water and some munchies, since there was an almost total absence of either there. Although there were food stands, well, sort of, they were out of food before the first day was over, everyone was pretty much on their own. (Well, that is not exactly true either. If you didn't know the people 20 deep around you before, within the first hour, you knew them all.)
There were so many NEW groups and individuals that played, most of which are now Hall of Famers, far too many gone, the replays have been Nirvana. (Not the group, the feeling!)
None of our group had even been involved in the "drug scene", but there was so much smoke in the air, I am not sure any of us could have followed former President's lead and say we didn't inhale. We would have died of suffocation. There was a cloud that just covered the entire area.
For those who had never heard of or seen, as in us, "streakers" (people running through crowds of unknown people totally naked) you couldn't leave without having shared the experience, again, and again, and, well, you get it.
But, in addition to making the obvious contributions to history, this event, whether 350 K or more, got together, enjoyed themselves, others and a non-stop barrage of musical productions, yet the event was completed without a single arrest. (The police just sort of forgot drug laws and although not partaking, certainly joined in the fun.)
Bad news part of it? We were SO covered in mud when we left that we all had to go over to Jim's to clean his car the following weekend. WHAT A MESS!
40 years? Can it really be that long? I met mom almost exactly one year later. The rest is history, our history. And what a glorious history our family has had and will continue to have forever more. | | | Posted by: An Ever Aging Dad at 10:13:53 PM |

NO WAY!!!!
| Saturday, August 29, 2009 | I have not forgotten 32 times!!! No way, no how, not ever..just LAST year I remembered! And the year before that! I have a computer calender at work...I am not without resources!! And I remember remembering when all you guys were growing up! How could I forget...little fingers making jello every August!!??? Dads memory is just getting a bit fuzzy...
None the less...it has been 34/39 years of love, laughter, tears, arguments, traveling, working, and just living life...together. I could not, would not, wish for anything more and feel so very blessed to have found some one who loves me and wants to spend a lifetime with me!

She Did It Again . . . Surprise??? NOT!!!
| Saturday, August 29, 2009 | I wondered how long it would take before mom remembered she missed our anniversary again. Darn Michelle messed it up.
For those in the "not know" category, I have forgotten our anniversary once, we both missed it at the same time once, and mom has missed it 32 times on her own. | | | Posted by: The Never Forgetting Dad at 9:44:17 PM |

| Sunday, August 23, 2009 | And the word is out for OU 'stuff'. My whole FB page is now nothing but 'help for Sooner Soldier!!
Dad is almost home! Yea!! And might even make it here in time to catch tonights Big Brother show! Then we finish up packing some orders, finish packing clothes, get banking ready for the morning, and then we are set to be out of here! Dad flys out at noon, my flight doesn't leave until 2. he is checking a bag, I am not, so when he arrives, an hour earlier than I do, then he will already have the bag and we head right on over to the hotel! I think Jimmy and Syd are going to try and make it down for dinner one night. | | | Posted by: Mom____ at 6:11:24 PM |

Calling all Sooner Fans!
| Sunday, August 23, 2009 | Mom, I accept the challenge to save the family heritage, even if everyone else has time to post on facebook 10 times a day and not on the family website!
I need to call on all sooner fans from all over the holy land. I am being attacked by an group of longhorns. They constantly besiege me with their dirty hook em signs and ugly words. I even was forced to do push ups for calling out boomer sooner to one of them! We made a bet to wear the others jersey if their team lost, even at the risk of burning my flesh with the touch of their ugly burnt orange!
We are going to have a watch party, where I will probably be the only okie vs. 10-20 of the texas devils. I might have to do the boomer sooner call, by myself, by running back and forth across the restaurant, which I will gladly do. But, I need some help. I need more gear to combat the evil ones. I need to know if anyone has a way to get cheap ou jerseys or car flags and stuff. I want to be a one man walking ou advertisement! I want to overwhelm them with sooner spirit! I cant get anything out here, this is rainbow nation. I want them to be blinded by the brillance of the crimson and cream while I call boomer and run across the bar and scream sooner! If anyone knows a guy or girl who deals in sooner gear, at this point I am willing to deal with less moral people who find stuff that fall off trucks! The sooner nation is under attack at the far end of our empire! Now is the time to gear up and attack, not for ourselves but for our freedom! (Rousing speech ending at the end of Braveheart, with me drowned in sooner gear, running or walking at the texas devils!) | | | Posted by: Nee at 2:58:31 PM |

see, that is what I mean...
| Saturday, August 22, 2009 | Simone, you always make me smile...and what to you mean, dramatic post!! It was just a simple post between Anthony and I....(and I always cut and paste prior to doing the little image thing, as I invaribly get it wrong the first time)
I am glad Blaize is liking school! Yea for him AND the teacher! And I am glad to hear they are pushing spelling. What with all the new spell check features, one would think that hardcore spelling will some day go by the wayside.
I hope the pain stuff works for Frankie. Being in pain all the time is never any fun and not good for the deposition either! Where will he be traveling to? I bet he will like that, getting around and off base on occasion. Sounds like a good job to me.
Ok..no more drama from me..at least for today..:) Good to hear from you!
And let me repeat..STAY AWAY FROM THE STOVE this weekend...

Hello Anthony and Mom ;)
| Saturday, August 22, 2009 |
Great,I wrote so much and now it`s gone again. This system is not going to work out either ;) Sorry Jchon.
Ok,what did I write...let`s see there was Blaize started school 1 week ago and so far he likes it. Spelling words are getting harder and more but we can manage ;)
I started working again 2 weeks ago and loving it.
Frank will start a new job sometimes next week, orders are being cut right now. I think he will be working with wounded soldiers and those who don`t show up and he has to find them....long hours = good for me ;) lol
He had 2 shots for his back over the summer. One of them should last about 2-3 month depends on his pain level.
We spend an amazing time at OK and KS and finally got to spend time with Laurie,Scott etc. I love their place especially the outside :) Odie and Azura had a great time in either places. They just loved to be able to run around like crazy.
I guess that was it for now. I`m not even going to comment on Mom`s dramatic post ;)
Just wanted to let you all know that I love you ! | | | Posted by: Simone at 2:41:07 PM |
