Quote of the Day
I do not say a proverb is amiss when aptly and reasonably applied, but to be forever discharging them, right or wrong, hit or
miss, renders conversation insipid and vulgar.

Time left before 2010 OKC Memorial Marathon:
Funny
| Sunday, July 05, 2009 | Hi all,
As mom said we had a very nice visit~mostly;-)
Just thought I would share a bumper sticker I saw on a car that made me chuckle-and thought it might make all ofyou since I think we can all relate
"I am an army wife. Don't confuse your rank with my authority";-) | | | Posted by: Dawn at 8:29:23 PM |

SEMPER FI
| Sunday, July 05, 2009 | It is said, over and over again, once a Marine, always a Marine. In boot camp, I didn't understand that. I heard the words, and stumbled through the required actions. But no more.
Service made the difference, and Marines were different. Don't get me wrong, each branch of the services is trained to do a specific job, and everyone of them do it well. But, when a Marine, no matter whether separated or on duty, is part of a discussion concerning the military, they will refer to themselves as a Marine.

That being said, bumper stickers are few and far between that honor prior service. Typically honoring a son or daughter or even someone retired. I don't see the motto of any particular branch of any service. The Marine Corps seal and/or Semper Fi is seen more frequently.
And, one thing for Anthony. As much as I love the music of "Alabama", I am owed by the ode to a "green" world to pass on to our children, "I Love To Be An American" is by Lee Greenwood. | | | Posted by: A PROUD AMERICAN DAD at 2:13:20 PM |

Amen and Amen!
| Sunday, July 05, 2009 | For all our faults, and we have some, you are absolutely correct, there is no other country like us in the world. There is a reason we have a immigation problem, and wait times for visa's to enter legally that are up to 15 years. My very favorite activity that I am privileged to attend are is the Naturalization Ceremony and it is especially moving when there is a soldier(s) sitting in the class of immigrants. The fact that they chose to fight and die for this country prior to even being able to vote is such a statement to their character and their love for our country and what it stands for. They always play "I'm Proud to be an American" at the beginning of these ceremonies and I am reduced to tears every time.
We are alot like a close family, you can bicker and fight all you want within the family, but let an outsider come in and start something, watch out! The family will band together and resist the attack with all their might. Like Reagan told the Russians so many years ago (paraphasing here...alot) "Bring it on" . I'll leave it to someone else to find the real quote.
So, today..I am going to take it easy for a little bit I think. Asthma appears to be taking over my lungs, for whatever reason, and the coughing at night is horrendous. I go to the Dr. on Tuesday and I am sure he will give me an inhaler of some sort, but in the meantime I just can't taste or smell and cough alot! It has been almost 10 years since it was this bad, so I have no clue what the trigger was. Oh well! I can breathe, so all is well!
I'll go over to work on the paint room later. Steve will be over today as well to help get things ready for his move-in. We have a little longer than we thought as another Wastooker is going on vacation next week and he is going to housesit for them. It is much nicer than our place and has a nice huge new pool in the back yard. All we can offer is a slip and slide (thanks to Frankie and Simone)
Every one enjoy their Sunday! | | | Posted by: Mom___ at 7:30:58 AM |

Proud to be an American!
| Sunday, July 05, 2009 | Sometimes, I think it is so easy to take being an American for granted. We live in one of the greatest, if not the greatest civilization to ever exist. We forget and take for granted more freedom and rights in one day than people in other countries see in their entire life time.
I don't know how any American can't almost feel like expoding with pride when watching a great fireworks show, while listening to " I'm proud to be an American," by Alabama! How lucky are we, to live in a country where your only limitation is the extent of your ambition and drive. I love America! I wish we had a 4th of July type of celebration every month. Its hard sometimes to stop and take a moment to appreciate all that we have.
Even if you don't have a lot of material things, you have so much more than you ever need, simply because you are an American.

Happy 4th to everyone too!
| Saturday, July 04, 2009 | Here in Oklahoma we had a very nice day. Yesterday Jchon and Dawn came up with kids, went to the omniplex with Aunt Christie then came to the house for grilled chicken and fixins'. Visited some and then Jchon and company took off to a quiet motel and got the kiddo's to sleep (NOT! according to reports next day). I fell asleep at about 9:30 (after getting all the dishes done!!). Christie went home to make cinamon rolls for the parade.
I met Christie at our spot at about 6:45 and we help spots for about 13 people, as we were expecting Monica and crowd to show. Alas, they did not so we tightened up our area and let other folks come on in for a closer look. Ben called later this evening, but I missed the call. Will call him tomorrow.
I was somewhat disappointed in the parade this year. Not many floats at all and it was sorta "cheesy" for an Edmond parade. But a good time was had by all. Afterwards we stopped by Teds for lunch before Christie took me home and Jchon and Dawn headed back to Denton for a birthday party there for someone.
We also got the drivers side window fixed on the Lincoln that broke on Thursday. Chris was able to get it down in about an hour. He is going to look at the power steering issue on Monday.
In the meantime I am going to try and sleep. Seems asthma has crept back into my health issues and I am coughing all night long and trying to breathe. I will be seeing the Doctor on Tuesday so I will definitely bring it up.
Everyone write and tell us how your day went!

I hope you did!
| Sunday, June 28, 2009 | Or Michelle has a different father than I thought she did!
Simone, Blaize, Frankie and Kevin have left for Lauries (should be there about now). Then they will head on home tomorrow. It really was nice to have them here for the end of the week. And the 4 cousins got some play time together that they don't get very often and Blaize got to visit with Aunt Christie when we went to the zoo.
The boys slept 1/2 the night out in the tent, but came in when it starte raining. Simone and Frankie had all day in Bricktown by themselves, so that was nice for them.
We had a dinner today prior to them leaving (yes, I cooked AGAIN!!!). Dad made a potroast and I finished off the sides. Very nice visit with all, including Kevin, who I really like. What a nice guy! He is welcome at our home anytime!
Looking forward to the 4th! A neat parade with Jchon and Dawn and the kids, Christie, and the entire Cox family and B,V and J and Monica's parents! Christie we need to get there and save LOTS of spaces! I'l bring multiple chairs...and 2 or 3 quilts! And better yet, it looks like the weather will cooporate and NOT be 100+ degrees! | | | Posted by: Mom__ at 7:46:04 PM |
