Safety concern for Fla. gov. over 9/11 Quran burn (AP)

Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center speaks at a news conference in Gainesville, Fla., Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010. Jones said that he is going forward with a plan to burn copies of the Quran at his church on Saturday, Sept. 11. (AP Photo/John Raoux)AP - Florida's governor is concerned about safety at home and around the world, a feeling shared by national and world leaders, over a plan by the head of a small church to burn copies of Islam's holiest text to mark the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

 The reason for my vote

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

First off let me say I would have voted none of the above if possible. With looking at everything I truely believe with his lost time as a POW then the country leaving his war lossing after he spent so much time in a Camp that he would keep us in Iraq so another war like his was not lost. I truely didn't want anything to do with another 8 years of the way this country was run. I have no problem with universal health care. I have lived that way for over 10 years of my life in Germany and it works. Do to my job Dad this talk will have to be done in person so I don't get in trouble with my job. You know our rules and they make them for a reason so we will sit down and go over it when I see you.

One more and I promise I'll go to bed

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

I have a trip out to the Federal Transfer Center tomorrow, so need my beauty sleep...

Keep you eyes peeled on Bobby Jindel (LA) and Sarah Palin...mark my words...to names to keep in mind for 2012...and maybe Sarah the Senator if Ted Stevens is convicted and must step down. She is responsiblie for naming a successor and she could very well appoint herself...Senator Sarah Palin...

OK..off ot bed, I promise...

OK, you all are going to get tired of this...

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

But, like it or not, this is an historic night. For multiple reasons. For me, it is an emotional night. I work in this atmosphere 45 -50 hours a week. I live it, breath it and earn my living with it. I can't help but get emotionally involved.

Anthony, I pretty sure super delegates states would probably not make it through the grinder of the house and senate, but who knows..:)

On the plus side of all this...there were a ton of new voters this time. I have alwasy said, I don't care who you vote for, but I don't want to hear anything from you if you haven't been to the polls (Simone, you are exempt...until or unless you put yourself in a position to vote). NO illegal voting in OUR family!

I believe Bush administration will transitioin to the next admin. wiht grace and humility. I do not think he will allow his staff or family, disgrace the office and the white house by allowing any shennanigans that the Clinton let slip by as they were leaving the White House. I do think Bush will instruct his staff to work seamlessly with the new folks to ease them into the job and the responsibilities to the best of their abilities.

And we still have Senator Coburn, walking around with 150 bills listing on a 3 x5 card, reminding him daily of the spending bills he alone is holding up in the Senate! Go Coburn!! They will have to be addressed shortly, but any luck at all Coburn will have a real effect in keeping the YOUR pocketbooks from having to hand out anymore money for stuff that the federal government should have no business being involved in.

And I keep writing becasue this blog will eventually be part of our family history. This needs to be recorded...what we were doing, what we were thinking, our beliefs, our differences, our discussions...it is important to the history of this country that we allow our thoughts to transport to the next generation, so THEY know from whence they come...so look forward to hearing from me more in the future..and sometimes on controversial issues. You choose whether to partake in the discussion. I am quite accustomed to talking to myself..:)

 Too Bad.......

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

they dont make it where late in the race, if you get one random super state or province worth 170 delegates!  McCain was behind most of the race, but then he pulled out Puerto Rico for the win!  I know they cant vote, but it seems that Puerto Rico gets every other benefit, why not make the super province!  Not likely, but would make for juicier tv.

 I almost forgot

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

MY boss run her race 65% - 35%...I am safe for the next 2 years!! In fact, all the Oklahoma delegation will stay the same. Next big one will be in 2010, when Coburn is up. It will be hard to say if sticks around for another 6 years. Depends on what happens in the next two I suppose.

and you want them to do that why?

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

I can't understand what they are singing, but they look cute...

Well, what we have been told this presidential debate has NOT been about for almost two years...over and over and over again, we have been told by the "mainstream' media...that this race was NOT about race...it was about "change" "hope"  etc. etc...apparently is not quite accurate. within 5 minutes of the official announcement (and my apologies to those in Hawaii, as the polls had not even closed yet) this "win" became ALL about race...absolutely incredible. I am in no way taking away from the historic significance of this win...it is huge, but to be told for two years, we were being racist if we brought race into the picture, then all at once we have a 180 degree change in message, it should give you a good clue as to how the next 4 years will go. Don't EVEN go comparing this man with Martin Luther King...if only....

Yes, I am disappointed, in the vote, in my party, in the McCain campaign. I do not blame Bush, I do not 'blame' anyone. We, as a public body were taken on a ride by a smooth talking con man, bolstered by the overwelming bias from reporters across the country.

I will, as an American, who believes in this great country, be respectful for this office of President and to the man who has been elected. I pray our other elected leaders who will ultimately make the big decisions, that they will keep the executive office in touch with our constitution, that NO Supreme Court judges will resign (or die!) and that we can keep our society from falling down that slippery slope to a bigger government, more entitlements, more handouts, NO national healthcare and increased support for our military and keeping our borders safe, keeping the fights across the ocean and not on our soil. Our Senators and Representatives have their work cut out for them.

Remember the adage: If the government is big enough to give you something, it is big enough to take it away.

Stay educated, do what your Grandmother admonished you to do everyday...stay up on 'current events', get involved..support your local politicians (see previous post :) ) And keep a real close eye on this President and hold his feet to the fire and especially keep his hands and heart firmly on the constitution of this great country.

 Frankie? Unusual Vote!

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

Now that the votes have been cast, I have to ask the question that has had me confused since Frankie first said it.

Frankie. WHY??

The active duty military vote is 10 - 1 for McCain. The veterans groups are 70% for McCain. This being the case, just exactly what do you expect to get from Obama? Don't get me wrong, although I voted against him, as did almost 68% of Oklahomans, I had him picked as the winner weeks and weeks ago. Mom was always upset with me when I did so.

But, I am curious exactly what policies he stands for that you also stand for? Not putting anyone down, that is why we live the lives we do, we are free because we have the freedom to voice and vote for our beliefs. I am just trying to figure out how you think your life will be better over the next four years?

Another point, I did not think McCain was the best candidate in the Republican camp.  I was, and I remain, a fan of Mitt Romney. If the economy had tanked during the primaries, he would have been the hands on Republican favorite. He would also have had at least a 50% chance, actually more, of winning tonight. As an unheard of Republican Governor of Massachusetts, home of the most liberal Senators in office, he took a massive deficit and not only balanced budget, he left office with a large surplus.

However, he was not the nominee, and we got what we got, primarily because at the time Iraq was the primary concern. The economy overtook it in importance and McCain never caught up. It will be very interesting to see how a governing with majorities in the President's office, the Senate and the House will be seen 2 years from now, and perhaps more interesting, in 4 years. \

In the end however, we are all Americans, and when the smoke clears, we will all come together and work to make our country stronger and better. Of that I am certain.

why is it.. ***warning, political statement***

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

that the original thirteen colonies and a few more on the eastern side of the country have so much control over the balance of the country in elections!? People on the east coast are almost as crazy as those Californians (except Orange County)..and they get to set the morals, the laws and the 'tone' for the sane midwesterns?? I don't get it.. (apologies to east coast republicans, but even they are more "Oklahoma democrats")

This country is going to get what it votes for tonight..I hope we can survive the next four years without any major damage and work on getting the message out. The Repubs aren't blameless here, we haven't been aggressive, we haven't stood up to the bullies and we didn't hold the line in the Senate and the House on spending...shame on us. Now we pay...

If the economy had been the issue back in the primaries..Mitt Romney would have been the nominee, who would have thought that the war would be come a non-issue (thanks to good leadership by McCain I might add) and the economy would be our downfall. Mitt could have taken Obama I think..definetely would have run a much more aggressive campaign...though honestly, Huckabee was my pick. Not sure he would have taken Obama either, but I think we made a mistake not putting Mitt up there..who knew...(McCain knew..he tried to stop the nonsense on Wall Street a long time ago..ironic how it is now his downfall)

Oklahoma has done their part...all across the board, but the east coast has or will pretty much set the stage. I will continue to hold out hope until the last of the votes are in, but my heart is heavy...
