Of course I wish!
| Thursday, September 25, 2008 | Just think about it. Of course, I don't have a mortgage to pay because...shock of all shocks...I paid mine. But I do have student loans that could use the help!
I figure if I just sit back, things will work out. Stressing about it certainly isn't going to help! | | | Posted by: StillHoping___ (Christie) at 10:22:40 PM |

you wish...
| Thursday, September 25, 2008 | We got that one several times today..and multiple "have her call Dave Ramsey". Today we had over 100 calls, 98 NO bailout, 3 ok, but with limitations. This is NOT going to be a nice week coming up for either campaign. Of course the mainstream media is going to spin it like McCain has messed things up.
Just hang on to your money, hang tight, this too shall pass... | | | Posted by: Mom___ at 9:57:01 PM |

Here we go....
| Thursday, September 25, 2008 | I got this as an e-mail, and I think it sounds great! Mom, pass this plan on to your boss!
This idea sounds just crazy enough to possibly work, so naturally it won't be given serious consideration. How great is our bureaucracy!!
Hi Pals,
I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.
Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a "We Deserve It" Dividend.
To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..
So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.
My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.
Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.
Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.
But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000.00.
What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college - it'll be there
Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car - create jobs
Invest in the market - capital drives growth
Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else
Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.
If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that is being proposed
by one of our candidates for President.
If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!
As for AIG - liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.
Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.
Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.'
But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!
How do you spell Economic Boom?
I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion
We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC
And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.
Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.
Kindest personal regards,
Birk
T. J. Birkenmeier, A Creative Guy & Citizen of the Republic
PS: Feel free to pass this along to your pals as it's either good for a laugh or a tear or a very sobering thought on how to best use $85 Billion!!

That meeting...
| Sunday, September 21, 2008 | is apparently the only one they are going to have before they announce the final plans. Clearly Norman is going to fight it. It looks like they presented 4 plans. ODOT prefers the cheapest route, which is to get rid of those exits. The second option includes cutting through the brand new, very expensive car dealership that just opened. One of the biggest dealerships in the state, who created a very nice place of business complete with public park space and ampitheater for public events. Obviously another poor choice. The third option was to build the ramps around that business, which they say doesn't make the ramps very effective. The final option was to build bridges for the exits and use them for both Lindsey Street and Highway 9. That one makes the most sense to me. It is the most expensive plan as well, but I think if they are looking long term, it's the best option. The University isn't going to go away, nor are football games, basketball games, concerts, etc. The areas around Highway 9 are growing as well. Hopefully, the idiot plan will be defeated. They gave us an address to write to in the paper, so I'm planning on writing to them. I certainly don't want to be stuck inside every Saturday we have a home game just because they want to save some money! | | | Posted by: StillWondering___ (Christie) at 11:02:03 PM |

I can't believe for a second
| Sunday, September 21, 2008 | That Norman is going to allow them to do that without a huge fight. They had a very large and loud meeting on Friday about it, but I don't think anything was decided, other than ODOT knows that the city of Norman is going to put up a fight. | | | Posted by: Mom___ at 10:28:11 PM |

Are they insane?!
| Sunday, September 21, 2008 | I just found out ODOT is wanting to widen I-35 through Norman - which is not the problem. In doing so, they want to close and remove the off-ramp to Lindsey Street. What on earth are they thinking? That is the main road to campus. Until I moved off campus, I didn't even know there was another street! How do they want people to get to the games? The traffic back up through Norman and on I-35 while people wait to get through Main Street will be disastrous!
Simone, I'm glad your surgery went well, but clearly they need to keep a closer eye on you! Sneaking out to go home for a couple of hours.
Mom, Oregon was never the problem...it was the officials! It was Boise State that we really want to lose! We needed the Oregon officials at that game apparently. OU was off yesterday, so I actually didn't catch any of the updates... | | | Posted by: Wondering___ (Christie) at 4:26:04 PM |
